OUR STORY

MPF began with an idea of building a special needs playground in Mustang. The founder wanted to honor the families of children with special needs by providing a space where the whole family could play together, side by side. A young woman named Brittany Grider inspired her sister in law, Lynly Grider, to begin the process of accomplishing this project. When the Mustang Parks and Recreation Department was approached with the idea, they wholeheartedly agreed that Mustang needed this addition. They put their full support behind it, and helped to fund the playground with a penny sales tax voted and approved by the community.

In keeping with the founder's vision of inclusivity, the mission of the Mustang Parks Foundation is to preserve and enhance the Mustang Parks system as a recreational resource for residents, workers and visitors in the City of Mustang.

To promote the vision of the foundation, our purpose is to create and support a sustainable coalition of partners for the Mustang Parks and Recreation system that will raise money, hold events and act as advocates for the parks and recreation systems with minimal support from government agencies.

The goals of Mustang Parks Foundation include:

  1. Raise financial support for a special needs inclusive playground - COMPLETED 2017

  2. Establish an Arts in the Park program - Partnered with the Mustang Arts Council

  3. Install public art - Partnered with the Mustang Arts Council

  4. Create Adopt-a-Park program - Partnered with Mustang Parks and Recreation H.Y.P.E. Program
